Agony of Poor Farmers who Lost their Livelihood | Andra Pradesh ( INDIA)

Hello,

I am Sandhya , D/o Seetharami Reddy from Kadapa dist. My parents spent their total earnings gained through cultivation for our education and still they are in cultivation because we are still struggling to make the both ends meet though we somehow made ourselves to get jobs and have our income to some extent. At this stage, as my parents could not completely depend on cultivation due deficit rainfall, lack of labour, high labour cost and bad debts. In order to cope up with all these and to add to our meagre income which we are managing to send them, they have been selling milk of the cow reared in our home.

But, recently, our cow along with its calf has been stolen. And our case is not the only one, many such cases have been registered in the neighbouring villages where the cops failed to trace out. However, recently one of the victim succeeded in finding his cow which was bought by some of his known person and when enquired he managed to find the information of the person who sold the cow to him and through him he assured that it was his stolen cow. He passed on the information to the cops regarding all his findings and the cops too managed to catch some more people associated with the theft, but failed totally to extract the facts. Meanwhile, some people of the nearby village caught hold of 3 to 4 people red handed while trying to transport the stolen cow and the villagers handed over the people to the police for further enquiry.

I really feel sorry for this though I don't mean to blame the public servants as I have utmost respect towards them but, some individuals are leaving no effort to establish the image that Government Officials are corrupt. I am saying this because, though the villagers handed over the culprits to the police, they neither tried to explore the facts nor do justice to the victims instead they made their own deals and let them loose which is evident from the fact that the police not even allowed to see the culprits after handing over to them and instead they have been saying that one of them who is the driver of the vehicle which is used for transport of the animals has managed to escape and the other people are not admitting their guilt.

And we also came to know that one more cow which was traced out was also not handed over to the owner instead, that was also allowed to flee along with the culprit. One more thing I want to mention here is regarding the complaints of the animal thefts have been recorded in different stations. If enquired with the police personnel of our division, they say that the culprits were handed over there so they have to take action and when gone there, they say that unless you have permission from the police personnel of your regional station, we will not give any information or we can't help you in either way.

At this point we are totally bankrupt either to be in constant touch with the police and manage them financially in finding our cow or to purchase a new cow immediately even after summing up the total income of both of our sisters to fund my parents at least to purchase the new cow.I still believe that not all the public servants and government officials are corrupt. So, at times proceeding systematically may help the things to get done inspite of the non-cooperation for the corrupt ones. So, please kindly help and guide us to take the next step as we are at the crossroads.

I know well that this is a very very minor issue to officials who are in a big cadre and has seen many cases like this and of course, this is really very minor case if the police try to put their effort and try to sort out the case sincerely. But, they are trying to gain whatever they can in each and every minor case. Where is the justice to a common who stands in the crowd without any financial and societal background. A total of 21 farmers are victims of this. Now it’s a burning issue in our district (Kadapa Dist, Andhra Pradesh).

Would there be the same kind of response if any one of the victim is a relative of some bigwig or some local politician or some other with financial background who are able to fund the police personnel.

Or is this the inefficiency of our officials who are unfit to investigate the case properly and failed to find figure out the accused inspite of the citizens handing them the suspects.

Or is this the best example and live picture of the roots of the corrupt India which has led to the demonetization but in vain. Where has the corruption come to the end if at all the officials are insisting to involve in their duties only if the public pay them in addition. Then where is the need for them to be salaried. If they are salaried, why should they be greedy for the additional income. Why can't they be punished?

When coming to punishment, complaint has to be filed against them in their Department or in some other Department who are the same officials again and the same story repeats because many of the officials from bottom to top are similar and so they protect themselves and also try to protect their subordinates & superiors. Local people doesn't dare to complain against them because, if at all they have to go to them for some other work, they should not spoil the relations. So, it is the helplessness here.

And out of that helplessness, I am requesting you to kindly go through this and please help us and guide us what can we do and what should be our next step because the problem is not only for my parents but all the farmers who are suffering with this.Total 52 cows were stolen till now and the count goes on in our district (Kadapa Dist). All farmers are awaiting for police response because no one has no idea about police activities.

I tried to file complaint in some government websites, but most government sites (Especially AP Gov Sites) are not working properly.

If anyone are aware of the procedure to file an online complaint, please let me know. So that, I can file the complaint. This is not only my parents problem but also other farmers suffering to find their cows.

As an educated person, I could not sit ideally without making any move. Hope you people understand.

Thanks for taking time to read this.
